I actually designed something today. I learn not to fight it no more. Some designers create multiple ideas and mock-ups whereas I have to just stick to sole idea and run with it to see if it passes for something plausible. My sketches don’t even get elaborated anymore then it has to. I draw something out, erase, fine tune and repeat this process over and over again.
And when I say fine tune, I use that term sparingly. Notice my hand skills aren’t nothing short of spectacular but again, I usually save the marksmanship for when I trace things in Illustrator. This is when things get really exciting! Creating say a graphic is all about plotting series of dots in it’s right place. Usually I use a nice hot pink whenever I do this, lower the transparency a tad and cover all the necessary areas.
After you take away your sketch, it really is just a game of tug-of-war and adjusting anchors till everything looks right. The rest of it is just personal flare. All this took a good couple of days to even get to this point and to think, this was only for the letter “F”. So much more to do.
