The Night Shift

April 4, 2010

Back in college, we had this project where we had to design a short lived product (logo, poster, flier, etc) within a one hour time span. The objective was an awareness. Make designers think on there toes, create things with whatever mediums that surrounded them and then dispose of it like it never existed. I decided to relive this moment and create a new banner from scratch, giving only this night to finish it.

Once Every So Often

March 22, 2010

I actually designed something today. I learn not to fight it no more. Some designers create multiple ideas and mock-ups whereas I have to just stick to sole idea and run with it to see if it passes for something plausible. My sketches don’t even get elaborated anymore then it has to. I draw something out, erase, fine tune and repeat this process over and over again.

CONVERSE X JOHN MINARDI

May 9, 2009

My buddy and fellow SF State Alumni John Minardi just informed me of his Converse shoe that he help create for the Converse (RED) campaign that they have going on. A hundred artists were specifically picked for their art and idea for their shoe and he was fortunate to be one of them. I know sneaker heads will think these are kind of bogus to rock but if you look at it from a designer’s perspective, it’s kind of cool to just have a shoe in general, let alone be a Converse one.

Here’s the original drawing John did for the shoe. I actually have seen in it person and regardless of what people think of the art, it looks pretty damn clean. Doodling is actually kind of a hard art form to perfect and John unknowingly does it with ease. Congrats dude! I got my pair coming soon.

FATLACE REDESIGN

February 17, 2009

Still don’t even know how I am on this bad-boy but nonetheless, the new Fatlace site just went live and coming from a half ass graphics fan, I would say it looks a lot better then the old one. Props to the CEO of it all (Mark) for making it look fresh and remember to check out a slimmer version of this blog on there. I plan on making that blog way different then this after I figure out why the hell I just said that. We’ll see….

New Site…..

January 15, 2009

…..is finally finished at 1:31am in the morning. I want to say there is actually a design theory to all of this but that would in fact require me to be a legitimate designer and a little sick in the head to think “camera-face-Fong” has some relevancy in this world. Let me just tug my own dick and just say I think this whole thing looks pretty fucking cool since I am such a novice CSS clown. Even though this was just two days of some pretty cheesy photoshop (I drop shadowed almost every damn layer in my PS file), I pride myself in saying “holy donkey balls!” cause I actually finished a project that I set out to do. Please mind the mess that this new look will create on the pages back, but if I were you, just look at this as the starting point and go forward from here. Still some minor tweaks to be done so bear with me…….and enjoy version 4.
